Interesting Find: The Mega Mac and Grand Mac

This was originally published on February 17th, 2008.

Behold! The Mega Mac! It’s a bigger version of McDonald’s famous “Big Mac” Sandwiches–and it’s only available in Japan. Looking at this makes me hungry. Eating this would probably make you full for a few days! Don’t think that it will be coming to the US, or anywhere else soon. I can just see all the lawsuits…

If you want to try it out, it’s really four Big Mac burgers in one. If you have enough cash to spare, just order them and remove the bread from the other three and stack them on the fourth Big Mac, and there you have it! Your very own Mega Mac! I have thought about trying it, but I’m watching my weight…

The Grand Mac

It wasn’t until several years, if not nearly a decade after I published that post, two additional Big Mac sandwiches were introduced to the US and UK markets in 2016. The Mac Jr. is just what it is: a Big Mac with only a single beef patty and one less bun. The Grand Mac, however, is on par with the Mega Mac, with 2 1/3 pound patties. It was the best we got as far as getting a Mega Mac. It was bought back in the US in early 2018, while the UK recently had another run back in March 2019.

For the past few years, McDonald’s has had 2 for $5 deals on their Big Mac Sandwiches. Sounds like an affordable gateway to your own Mega Mac!

Have you tried either the Mega Mac or Grand Mac? What did you think? (I wonder if there is a difference in taste between the two. Because, different countries…)
