Music Spotlight: L’arc~En~Ciel – Hurry Xmas

I know what you’re thinking. Christmas was last week. Yes, it was. However, this draft has been sitting in my archives from 2007! Can I have an award for longest sitting draft under 300 words? Well, it might go over 300 words since I do have something to say about this post. Anyway, moving on! To end out the decade, and to finally give this post the light of day(break’s bell), I am highlighting a beloved Christmas song from one of Japan longest running J-Rock groups, L’arc~En~Ciel.

Album cover for L'arc~En~Ciel - "Hurry Xmas"

“Hurry Xmas” was released as a single of the same name in 2007 just in time for the holiday season that year from J-rock fan favorites, L’arc~En~Ciel. It was one of my favorite Christmas songs of the year, especially from the group who had at the time made a comeback with the “KISS” album, following their release of the album “AWAKE” (featuring my favorite track “Jiyuu e no Shoutai” – 自由への招待) album in 2005. The album KISS features “Daybreak’s Bell”, Opening theme song for Mobile Suit Gundam 00, as well as this very song.

As a personal policy on this blog, I prefer to include the full MV of the song embedded in my Music Spotlight posts, in which the PV was available on YouTube at the time of the first draft of this post. However, with the preferred practice of how Japanese music PVs are promoted online, I can only do so much and include only the song that was user-uploaded that is still available. However, if you are able to access Facebook without limitations, the L’arclip fan page has the full PV uploaded of Hurry Xmas!

Please enjoy this very belated publication of L’arc~En~Ciel’s Hurry Xmas. Thank you for reading Centaku Media in 2019 and for sticking around for so long! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
