Top 3 Game Highlights from Summer Game Fest 2025

There were a lot of games revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025. There were some disappointments and surprises, which is the norm for such events. For this event, it could be the fact that it feels a little rushed due to the fact that many were used to the organized hype of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, which no longer exists. However, it is an improving platform where publishers showcase their upcoming titles and to give fans awareness of what to look forward to in the coming months, and sometimes years.

Most of these titles discussed in this post keeps it short and simple, with many that caught my eye which happens to be releasing later this year. Let’s see what’s coming up from the Summer Game Fest this year!

Takuya Kimura: Birth of a J-Drama “Hero”

If you’ve never seen a Japanese drama, then let me say there are often 3 key elements to each series: brevity, “trendiness”, and melodrama. 1) Each series is usually 10 or 12 episodes max, unless incredibly popular in which case a follow-up movie will be made, or special as it’s called. Only rarely does a show, even a popular show, get a second full season. This means most series are essentially like American/British mini-series, and are more serial than episodic. 2) The brevity of these shows plays into component 2, which is J-Drama’s “trendiness” or perhaps a better word would be relevance to their audience.
