Blurb of the Day: NHK World Discusses South Korea’s Embrace of Japanese Culture

NHK World Japan uploaded a video on their official YouTube channel discussing how South Korean youth are embracing media from Japan. This comes after years of conflict due to the Japanese occupation of Korea in the early 1900s, which resulted in harsh treatment of Koreans until Japan’s surrender in World War II.

In the video, a student is interviewed explaining how anime has helped her get through her studies, as well as her dream of enrolling in a school in Japan. Additionally, we can see how fans seek out their favorite merchandise in many anime character good shops in Seoul. It brings back memories of going to the official Gundam Base store at the COEX Mall in 2019
