Channel Surfing: Super Dragon Ball Heroes

If you’re on a withdrawal from Dragon Ball Super, especially after the release of the Broly movie in theatres, here is the chance to check out Super Dragon Ball Heroes! Super Dragon Ball Heroes is a mini-series featuring the characters of the modern Dragon Ball universe, as well as new faces, as seen in the animated scenes from the Dragon Ball Heroes game. This is a promotional series for the game that began in July 2018, and is a web exclusive.

Channel Surfing: Flowering Heart

The idea for this edition of Channel Surfing came as this: In a random quest to find Korean anime on YouTube at 3 AM, I came across this series called “Flowering Heart”. It’s probably what you think it is: a magical girl anime series–that tackles issues as such in 10 minutes every week.

Each episode is roughly 12 minutes long, and there are two seasons of the show that began in 2016. It’s a Korean anime series targeted to “tweens”, as described in the description and video titles. What really caught my attention is that it has an English dub, which can be viewed right now on the series official YouTube channel.

No More DramaFever and FUNimation on VRV

For those who keep up with Asian Dramas and Dubbed Anime will be looking for alternatives in the coming days, if not a couple of weeks. It was announced two weeks ago that previously independently-owned DramaFever, which was acquired by Warner Bros., shut down its streaming service on the day of the announcement. Crunchyroll, on the other hand, will have a slightly smaller streaming library.

Ni-Ongaku Spotlight – October 2018 Roundup

Welcome to another collection of songs for the month of October that we’ve posted on our Twitter and Facebook pages for Ni-Ongaku Spotlight! This is also the final post filed under Ni-Ongaku Spotlight, in which going forward, in an effort to shift content from solely Japanese culture interests, Ni-Ongaku Spotlight will be simply be called Music Spotlight.

Since launching the original blog in 2007, “Ni-Ongaku Spotlight” (a play on “Nihon” (Japan) and “Ongaku” (Music) in Japanese) was a way to get back in touch with my discoveries of the Japanese music scene, after being caught in the Korean Wave in 2004. Now that I’m in a place where I can catch up on the latest in Japanese, and Korean music, you can now check out more than what you can find on the Oricon charts!

Without further ado, on to this month’s Music Spotlight!

My Hero Academia – Anime Series Review

I’m excited to bring you the first brand new anime review since the blog relaunch, and one of the world’s latest series, My Hero Academia. After witnessing a huge gathering of My Hero Academia cosplayers at Anime Weekend Atlanta 2018, I had to see what the hype is all about, and in this preliminary review, I can tell why it’s as popular as it is. It’s reminiscent of another anime series I really enjoyed from early in the decade, but with more of a scholastic focus. Oh, and super heroes.

The Sights of Anime Weekend Atlanta 2018

This is follow-up video to the convention recap for Anime Weekend Atlanta 2018. With the recap itself recorded longer than I anticipated, I felt it would be easier to make a seperate video of the sights (and some sounds) of the con. I did not record EVERY moment of the con, but I hope it enough to satisfy to wanting to go to the con–if anyone is wanting to go to this con in particular, new or veteran con attendee. Please enjoy! ^_^
