Eorzea Journal #3 – Onward to Heavensward

So, here it is… a long waited post after the last post. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a written update of my progress in Final Fantasy XIV that I don’t even know where to begin, and not to mention the fact that I’ve made huge progress between my time playing through A Realm Reborn content up to Heavensward. In my attempt to catch up to the content of the current Shadowbringers expansion pack, a lot of my progress was televised on Twitch. However, in my attempt to better my productivity, I have decided to return to my roots with written content, with the occasional video update once in a while.

Blue Dragon Plus – Review [Action Button]

The following was published back in 2009 after this game in the Blue Dragon franchise was released in North America, and with many thanks to the marketing agency RocketXL for making this possible, I was able to get a hands-on review! Blue Dragon Plus for the Nintendo DS is the sequel to the Xbox 360 game created by the father of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, music from the legendary Nobuo Uematsu, and character design by Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame. It is the perfect alternative for fans of the Blue Dragon anime who have yet to play the first Blue Dragon game.

Ivy – Sonata of Temptation [Music Spotlight]

K-Pop solo artist Ivy released a music video for her song “Sonata of Temptation” a little over a decade ago (which I originally talked about back in 2009 on the blog before the relaunch), and it was quite the topic–not just around K-Pop communities, but around Final Fantasy fan circles as well…

Self-Studying the Korean Language Using a Journal System

Prior to my trip to South Korea, I brushed up on the Korean language in preparation to survive roughly a week in order to get around. It may not be necessary, but it doesn’t hurt to learn some survival phrases, or at least get an idea of how the language is structured for future reference.

Bleach: Byakuya Kuchiki… Can Sing?!

That’s right… Byakuya can sing! How is this possible?! It’s all about Bleach Soul Sonic. It’s a live, radio-style drama featuring the Japanese voice actors of Bleach. Many of the recordings are parodies of episodes, like this video featuring Byakuya and his voice actor, Ryotaro Okiayu (who is also the voice of Treize Khushrenada), on the career of an Enka singer…

#PoorSportsmanship: Weeaboo Stories, or: “How NOT to be an Otaku”

Note: This was originally written on September 21st, 2011 and is republished for archival purposes. By the time I posted this, the Tumblr account for Weeaboo Stories was taken down, likely for obvious reasons. This post originally included links to the account, but not even the Wayback Machine has them. So previously existing links will be highlighted in red for those who (whether it was for good or bad) missed out on the dark side of the fandom. Just imagine what went down in the broken links…

Music Spotlight: Shing02’s “Ultimate High”

Bringing back an old post from the early days of the “Ni-Ongaku Spotlight” for the newer audience under Music Spotlight. We take a look at this video of Shing02, and the music video of his single, “Ultimate High”. Shing02 is a Japanese indie Hip-Hop artist who has provided music for the soundtrack for the anime Samurai Champloo, along with the late Nujabes.

The Future of “The Eorzea Journal”

Hello! I haven’t had a proper written update about the adventures of Nakaichi Epion on Famfrit in a while, other than pushing her through in Heavensward content (finally!) back in the late Summer of 2019. I figured now would be a good time to explain my intentions with future streams of my Final Fantasy XIV progression, which would mean more content to indulge in the future, but through other mediums.
