Channel Surfing: Summer 2019 Anime Lineup

Coming fresh from another Channel Surfing entry where I talk about the classic anime series, Love Hina, let’s talk about what’s new in the Summer 2019 Anime Lineup. There is so much to choose from, as always, but there is that one series that caught mine, and everyone’s, attention.

Music Spotlight: Last Note – “オサナナブルー (Childhood Blues)”

As someone who is new-ish to the Vocaloid fandom, I would like to share my findings with those who are also curious of Vocaloid music, especially in 2019. For the first Vocaloid entry in the Music Spotlight series, here is an original song featuring Vocaloid GUMI by composer Last Note.

Channel Surfing: Love Hina

This post was originally written on March 15th, 2009. Love Hina was also a part of an attempt of a series called “Anime at Large“, which would eventually be renamed to “The Forgotten“, which highlights anime series that I’ve watched in the past, but were lost to license issues, or just general obscurity, in which another way to watch it was sought after. Now that I’ve settled down after the relaunching phase of this blog, it would be perfect to include a classic post as part of the Channel Surfing series!

Dragon Ball Z: The Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans (1994) – OVA Review

This post was originally published on July 18th, 2008. Also known as “Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyan Zetsumetsu Keikaku“, and alternatively The Plan to Destroy the Saiya-jin, the feature was remade and released with Raging Blast 2 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, and is available in the US. Sadly, there is not an English dub for both versions.

Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyan Zetsumetsu Keikaku (The Plan to Destroy the Saiya-jin")

Huh? There’s more of Dragon Ball Z?! Yes, there is! In case you haven’t been to just about every DBZ fansite on the web, even those that are in a language different from what you already know, there is a Dragon Ball Z OVA (Original Video Animation) somewhere on one of these websites. I won’t say which one (they will come after me if I mention them), but it’s likely that it won’t be licensed soon due to the way this released. You’ll find out soon enough.

Warning: This post contains spoilers! Read at your own risk!

Channel Surfing: Super Dragon Ball Heroes

If you’re on a withdrawal from Dragon Ball Super, especially after the release of the Broly movie in theatres, here is the chance to check out Super Dragon Ball Heroes! Super Dragon Ball Heroes is a mini-series featuring the characters of the modern Dragon Ball universe, as well as new faces, as seen in the animated scenes from the Dragon Ball Heroes game. This is a promotional series for the game that began in July 2018, and is a web exclusive.

Channel Surfing: Flowering Heart

The idea for this edition of Channel Surfing came as this: In a random quest to find Korean anime on YouTube at 3 AM, I came across this series called “Flowering Heart”. It’s probably what you think it is: a magical girl anime series–that tackles issues as such in 10 minutes every week.

Each episode is roughly 12 minutes long, and there are two seasons of the show that began in 2016. It’s a Korean anime series targeted to “tweens”, as described in the description and video titles. What really caught my attention is that it has an English dub, which can be viewed right now on the series official YouTube channel.
