Centaku Media Podcast – Episode #00: Let’s Try That Again (+ Show Notes)

This is the re-inaugural episode of the Centaku Media podcast, which is a reboot of “The CEN.TAKU.ME Podcast” that was started a little over a decade ago, with only a few episodes released. With a renewed outlook of how I want to produce content, I am reattempting a podcast format in hopes of connecting with like-minded people who are into anime and the things in-between!

Self-Studying the Korean Language Using a Journal System

Prior to my trip to South Korea, I brushed up on the Korean language in preparation to survive roughly a week in order to get around. It may not be necessary, but it doesn’t hurt to learn some survival phrases, or at least get an idea of how the language is structured for future reference.

#PoorSportsmanship: Weeaboo Stories, or: “How NOT to be an Otaku”

Note: This was originally written on September 21st, 2011 and is republished for archival purposes. By the time I posted this, the Tumblr account for Weeaboo Stories was taken down, likely for obvious reasons. This post originally included links to the account, but not even the Wayback Machine has them. So previously existing links will be highlighted in red for those who (whether it was for good or bad) missed out on the dark side of the fandom. Just imagine what went down in the broken links…

The Seoul Searching Chronicles: 5 Takeaways From Seoul

This entry is part 6 of 6 in the series The Seoul Searching Chronicles

Thank you for sticking around the blog and for following the Seoul Searching Chronicles series! As a bonus, I wanted to post my thoughts about my recent trip to South Korea, and talk about some things that I would really, really like to see in my home country (although that is easier said than done, as the thought of it wouldn’t “make any sense” to us Americans).

The Seoul Searching Chronicles: Dongdaemun & Lotte World

This entry is part 5 of 6 in the series The Seoul Searching Chronicles

Welcome to part five of The Seoul Searching Chronicles! Today we highlight our last day in Seoul with a trip to the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, and Lotte World–which is said to be the Six Flags Theme Park of South Korea.

We kicked off our last day emerging from the subway to the bustling area of Dongdaemun, which also houses many street vendors, and the interestingly designed Dongdaemun Design Plaza, which is home to many modern design exhibits when it comes to architecture and fashion. (It even as a SMTOWN store located on the second floor, which totally caught us off guard!)

The Seoul Searching Chronicles: COEX Aquarium

This entry is part 4 of 6 in the series The Seoul Searching Chronicles

Welcome to part four of The Seoul Searching Chronicles! In this post we went back to the COEX Mall to check out the COEX Aquarium, where we were told that we had to check out during our visit! It’s an aquarium that looks small on the outside, but it was very worth the price of admission (around $20 USD)–and you get to see sharks! Pardon the lack of words moving forward as this was in a format of a “speedrun” so to speak, while at the same time more of being in awe of the attractions. Although I think I took more pictures from this place than anywhere else in Seoul, so only select photos of interest will be highlighted in this post. More pictures and exclusives will be on the Centaku Media page on Facebook following the conclusion of the Seoul Searching series!

Welcome to the third part of the Seoul Searching Chronicles, highlighting my first ever visit to Seoul, South Korea, and it’s many surroundings in a week’s time. In this post, I highlight our visit to Namsan Village, also known as Namsamgol Hanok Village, as well as the famous Namsan Tower, now known as N Seoul Tower.
