Netflix calls global streaming dibs on the long awaited sixth part of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, Final Fantasy X’s Tidus could have had a career of another famous video game character, and reporters struggle with the pronunciation of “Gundam” during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics broadcasts.

Recap Throwback: Anime Weekend Atlanta 15

The following is a republication of a recap of my first Anime Weekend Atlanta in attendance! It was originally published following the convention in 2009. Since we’re in a situation where there are no cons to attend, unless virtually, in 2020, I figured this would be a good opportunity to wipe the dust off some of these posts, and with a little editing of typos here and there.

A LOT has changed since then, which also brings up a reminder that there are things that once were acceptable, which is now viewed with caution; I am not going to bring it to attention now, but you may figure it out as you read along, especially if you’ve been keeping up with the anime industry in the US in 2019.

Interesting Find: The Mini-Guide for New Shitajiki Collectors

Collecting Shitajiki is a step forward in becoming an Otaku for life. Anime enthusiasts usually collect figurines created based on original or existing characters. For me, however, I take a different approach to collecting anime memorabilia. Shitajiki are pencil boards, like a clipboard–but without a clip, and with graphics. They are just like trading cards, but twice in size!

Author’s Note: This post was originally published in April 2008. I decided to give this post another life for anyone who is interested in collecting these. However, it’s been a minute since I’ve invested in them, but with having to republish this post, I just might give it another shot! Enjoy!

Music Spotlight: Jang Geun Suk’s “Crazy Crazy Crazy”

Note: The following was written in November 2011, and it was originally for Jang Geun Suk’s single, “Let Me Cry”. In the time following the original publication of the post, he released his full album, “Just Crazy”, which includes Let Me Cry. However, for republication, I am going to include “Crazy Crazy Crazy” to highlight his aforementioned first album, released in 2012.

I wanted to talk about a popular Korean Wave actor who trends above all the others in Japan (in before AKB48) and had a sold out concert at the Tokyo Dome. His name is Jang Geun Suk (also written as Jang Keun Suk), who rose to fame after starring in the 2009 Korean drama, You’re Beautiful, and had a cameo appearance in the Japanese adaptation of YAB, Ikemen Desu Ne.

Why Anime Con Goers Need to Attend Metrotham Con

I want to talk about Chattanooga’s newest multi-fandom convention, Metrotham Con, which will be returning for their second installment since the inaugural event in 2019. For those who have not been to a multi-fandom convention, it’s exactly what it is: an event where every fandom is celebrated, whether it is anime, gaming, sci-fi, or horror, a convention like Metrotham Con has it all.

Bleach: The Kuchiki Behind the Page (Mild Spoilers)

Do you hate it when you finally catch up on your favorite series–to find that there is more to it from what you read? For me, it bothers me to no end… until you stand up and ask “just who the hell is this guy/girl?” After catching up to an on-going manga series to the latest chapter, I was stumped–until now.

Bleach: Byakuya Kuchiki… Can Sing?!

That’s right… Byakuya can sing! How is this possible?! It’s all about Bleach Soul Sonic. It’s a live, radio-style drama featuring the Japanese voice actors of Bleach. Many of the recordings are parodies of episodes, like this video featuring Byakuya and his voice actor, Ryotaro Okiayu (who is also the voice of Treize Khushrenada), on the career of an Enka singer…
