Interest Treasures: The 5 Best Dragon Ball Videos on YouTube

This is another entry into a new series called “Interest Treasures”, where I highlight something that not many people know about within a fandom–that even the fandom doesn’t know about–within a geeky–or for the sake of this blog: an Otaku interest. The first entry in the tag, I highlighted a K-Pop artist who is called the “90s G-Dragon”, Yang Joon Il. Today, I figured I cover 5 of the Best Dragon Ball Videos on YouTube, where even a big, long running fandom that might have missed; especially for new comers.

Interest Treasures: The Unusual Journey of Yang Joon Il

Many of you are probably into, or at least heard of, the latest K-pop acts such as BTS, TWICE, BLACKPINK, and Stray Kids. But there is Yang Joon Il (Hangul: 양준일), a solo artist who made his debut at the very beginning of the 1990s, and who was largely ignored by the Korean media because of his approach to the norms of the era.

[Community Poll] Series Recommendations – Anime Edition

So many shows, so little time! With the inception of the Centaku Media Podcast, I figured this would be a good place to start where I can verbally discuss details of an anime series I’ve waited until–whenever it is decided–to watch. There are many lists out there of good anime recommendations, but I don’t know where to begin! I have a long list of anime that I’ve put “On Hold” or “Plan to Watch” on my personal MyAnimeList account, and some that have come out in recent years that sound interesting–but only makes my backlog worse.

#PoorSportsmanship: Weeaboo Stories, or: “How NOT to be an Otaku”

Note: This was originally written on September 21st, 2011 and is republished for archival purposes. By the time I posted this, the Tumblr account for Weeaboo Stories was taken down, likely for obvious reasons. This post originally included links to the account, but not even the Wayback Machine has them. So previously existing links will be highlighted in red for those who (whether it was for good or bad) missed out on the dark side of the fandom. Just imagine what went down in the broken links…
